Brady and the Bucs struggle as Jackson shine as the Ravens defeat them 27-22. After a 2-0 start, Tampa Bay loses for the fifth time in six games.
The Baltimore Ravens are now winning consecutive games.
Thursday night’s 27-22 victory over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thanks to Lamar Jackson’s 238 passing yards and two second-half touchdowns gave the Ravens their first consecutive victory of the year.
Brady, on the other hand, is currently on a three-game losing streak for the first time since 2002, the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s first season as the New England Patriots primary starter.
After the break, Jackson completed all eight of his passes, leading the Ravens (5-3) to a 231-yard total despite only carrying the ball seven times in the first two quarters.
Jackson said when asked if he thought the Baltimore offense was getting closer to firing on all cylinders, “I feel like we’re very close.”
We are doing well, yet there is still an opportunity for development. the minor errors we continue to make,” the Ravens quarterback stated. We change those, and I believe the possibilities are endless.
After a 2-0 lead, the Buccaneers (3-5) lost for the fifth time in six games.
Brady escaped going a second straight game without a touchdown pass by delivering an 8-yarder to Julio Jones in the final minute, saying, “We just didn’t play well enough to win.”
It won’t become light until you routinely play four quarters and win games, according to Bucs coach Todd Bowles. That doesn’t mean we can’t escape from it, though. We simply have a tonne of work to do, both as players and coaches.
For the second time in as many career meetings, Jackson defeated Brady, 45, by leading touchdown drives of 77, 80, and 85 yards after Baltimore struggled early and fell down 10-3 at the half.
Jackson completed 27 of 38 attempts without an interception for the Ravens (5-3), including touchdown passes of five and ten yards to Kenyon Drake and Isaiah Likely in the third quarter. The Ravens (5-3) rushed for all but 27 of their 231 rushing yards in the second half.
After the break, Baltimore scored on its first four possessions, and with just over two minutes left, Justin Tucker kicked a 30-yard field goal to put the score 27-16.
With 49 seconds left, Brady completed his touchdown pass to Jones while going 26 of 44 for 325 yards and no interceptions. He received three dismissals.
For the Buccaneers, Mike Evans had six receptions for 123 yards and Leonard Fournette scored on a one-yard run.
The Buccaneers didn’t score in the first quarter of the season prior to Fournette’s touchdown. Brady mentioned earlier in the week how advantageous it may be to play with a lead, but after Ryan Succop’s 31-yard field goal made it 10-3, the offense did little to extend the lead.
The Ravens, on the other hand, missed a few chances to seize the initiative early on, settling for a field goal from 22 yards after recovering a fumble at the Buccaneers’ six-yard line on a punt return, and leaving empty-handed when Jackson threw an incomplete pass into the end zone on fourth-and-three from the Tampa Bay 10 late in the second quarter.
As the half came to a close, Tucker’s 61-yard field goal attempt was blocked at the goal line, providing them with one final opportunity to narrow their 10-3 deficit.
